A major part of our work is directly with homeowners who are looking to manage the work carried out on their homes. The projects we get involved with are extremely varied and can be as simple as the replacement of one or two windows, to complete house renovations and new build projects involving many trades. Each project and client is unique in how much help and assistance they will need from the design stage through to completion. We are extremely flexible in the ways in which we can work with you.
When you first contact our team, a designer will talk through your ideas and requirements, explain about our various systems and which one may be the most appropriate for your project. We regularly receive sketches, drawings and photographs from clients or their architects, enabling us to make a reasonable assessment of what system would best suit your needs
Alternatively, many of our clients prefer to start their enquiries by arranging a visit from one of our designers. Visiting your property is always beneficial in helping to understand how our windows can be fitted into existing openings. Our designers will then be able to offer practical advice and solutions based upon the style of building. We will look at existing reveal details and explain how the windows will need to be fitted and for difficult and more complicated projects, our designer may be accompanied by our technical surveyor to help find solutions.
Whichever way you prefer to proceed, a specific designer will be assigned to your project to develop ideas and then compile a detailed specification and costs. They can explain how our schedule works and how we can work best to meet dates in your own programme of works, along with other areas which may require clarification. They can also assist you on the complex issues raised by Building Regulations should they apply to your project.
Visiting us at our showrooms and factory during the research stages can be extremely valuable, so you can see how our windows and doors are made. Meeting the production team will give you an insight into how your project will slot into our manufacturing schedules. We also have local projects you are welcome to visit to see our products in situ.
For some of our work, we manufacture windows and doors to measurements supplied by our clients, their builders or architects. A detailed guide is provided on how to measure, check openings are square and which dimensions should be supplied.
However, most clients like to make use of our site survey and measuring service. We have a dedicated technical surveyor who will visit and discuss with you or your builder the requirements for the openings and any alterations that may be required. Measuring of the openings can occasionally involve the removal of old windows to check existing profiles and the temporary securing of openings following measuring. This can offer peace of mind with refit projects.
On more complicated and shaped openings, templates will need to be made to ensure a perfect fit and this may be an option you may like us to take on for your own project.
Once all details are confirmed and your order is placed, your file is handed over to our technical and operations team. A project technician is assigned who prepares all CAD drawings for sign off and any other information required to move your project forward to manufacturing. Delivery dates and an installation schedule is agreed with you with our operations manager who works closely with your assigned client coordinator who will be your main point of contact throughout your project.
Prior to this and dependant on who is providing information, either a site survey is completed by our technical surveyor, or we give guidance to your team on the technical data we require for manufacture.
Your order is passed to our production office who put your order into manufacture. Here we couple the latest technology with traditional techniques to achieve a precision-made window with an individual and traditional look. Latest CNC equipment cuts and machines the various extrusions, which then pass to our team of skilled fabricators who will hand assemble each window, bringing together all components. They are then put through an antiquing process before being individually hand finished, fitted with seals, and given a natural wax coating. Finally, they are put through various quality checks before being wrapped for dispatch.
You are welcome to come and see your project at any stage of manufacture and to meet the team.
For the experienced and skilled installer, our products come with full instructions on the correct procedure to follow when fitting and the specific tools required. Many clients take up our on-site demonstration service which is recommended and invaluable. This is carried out by our site managers and usually takes a day depending on size of project and complexity of product.
Many clients take up our installation service which provides a dedicated team of skilled and experienced fitters, overseen by a project manager. The duration and sequence for installation will be discussed and agreed with you by our senior project manager and will depend on how your project is progressing and whether scaffolding is required/available. The site team can be contacted at any stage during the works on site and afterwards should any problems arise.
On completion of your project, we will give you advice and an aftercare booklet on how to best look after your products. Bronze is low maintenance but certain elements will require cleaning and periodic attention, and we have a range of products to help you keep your windows and doors in the very best condition.
Additionally, we keep full records of your project should you require any information from us in the future and records are kept indefinitely for most glass measurements so replacement units can be supplied and fitted without undue delay in the event of a breakage.
