Barn conversions are a testament to the beauty of blending rustic heritage with contemporary living. From preserving the charm of original features to enhancing a contemporary aesthetic, all whilst framing breathtaking views, a carefully chosen window, door or screen can go a long way in securing a truly inspiring transformation.
This contemporary barn conversion showcases an impressive timber structure enhanced by double-glazed bronze windows set within sleek stained timber frames. A striking double-height screen incorporating horizontal transoms floods the hallways with natural light, lending a distinctly modern feel to the home.
Nestled in the heart of the New Forest, this charming barn conversion beautifully preserves the character of its origins as part of a small farm dating back to the 1820s. Its conversion includes the careful integration of three windows into the barn's original openings, framed with elegant oak subframes to enhance the rustic appeal. The old stable doors have been repurposed as functional window shutters, gaining clever functionality from the barn's heritage.
Single-storey barn conversions can offer exceptional living spaces, as demonstrated by this lovingly restored Grade II listed dairy, now seeing use as a charming holiday cottage. Featuring bronze double doors and large floor-to-ceiling picture windows, the space is well-lit and connected to the surrounding courtyard gardens, creating a bright and inviting atmosphere.
This stunning barn has been transformed into a modern pool house, complete with a mezzanine that hosts a home office and gym nestled amongst the rafters. The space owes its bright and airy ambience to the generous Coach House doors, now reimagined with full-length fixed bronze screens featuring elegant arched heads. These screens not only preserve the barn’s original charm but also infuse the space with contemporary sophistication, creating it a bright and inviting retreat.
Barn conversions make exceptional office spaces when designed with the right windows to provide ample natural light—an essential element for fostering productivity. This beautifully renovated period barn is now an open-plan office that perfectly balances historic charm with contemporary functionality, featuring internal and external solid bronze doors alongside a large, panelled window set within an oak frame. The oak frames, which will gracefully weather to a silvered finish, ensure the modern updates remain in harmony with the barn's original character.
This derelict barn was transformed as part of a residential renovation project. One side boasts an expansive, full-height screen that spans the entire length of the barn, offering uninterrupted views of the countryside. The opposite side features a smaller screen and two long, narrow windows, designed to let in natural light while preserving a sense of privacy.
A historic barn, thought to date back to the mid-late 1300s, showcasing a traditional timber frame and a thatched roof to reflect its medieval origins. This Grade II listed timber-framed structure has been meticulously restored with heritage-style bronze windows set directly into the original timber surrounds.
Bronze is frequently chosen for such restorations due to its authenticity and seamless integration with traditional designs, enhancing both the historical and cultural significance of the property.
This barn conversion has been beautifully modernised with the addition of a striking double-height bronze screen that forms a grand entrance. Complemented by an array of smaller bronze windows, the design incorporates a generous use of glass, with the floor-to-ceiling glazing allowing sunlight to fill the central hallway. The expansive glazing not only brightens the interior but also frames uninterrupted views of the surrounding fields, opening up the home to its countryside surroundings.
Windows play a vital role in this Dutch barn conversion, introducing modern functionality whilst preserving the classic structure. In another building on this unique property, we’ve provided a striking arrangement of triangular-shaped bronze windows. These thoughtfully designed casements not only enhance the character of the structure but also provide abundant natural light and ventilation to the rooms within the roof section.
The New Inn Farmhouse, a Grade II* listed inn, was carefully restored as part of a sensitive renovation project after being included on the English Heritage Buildings at Risk Register. The building had remained uninhabited for over a decade and had fallen into a state of severe disrepair. Now serving as National Trust visitor facilities, the restoration included the installation of bronze windows in several openings, including two large picture windows set behind the original barn doors, occupying the space where the doors would have closed.
This neglected barn was in dire need of renovation. To preserve its original character, bronze windows were designed to match the existing openings, complemented by a two storey screen featuring bronze windows and doors set in timber frames.
The space where old barn doors once stood has been completely transformed with the addition of a contemporary bronze screen. This modern upgrade has repurposed the previously unused barn, creating additional living space.
